About the Program

Ararat is one of the most famous and popular mountains at elevations of over 5000 meters. Its height is 5137 m, and its peak is covered in ice. Climbing Mount Ararat is quite suitable for novices because it presents no technical challenges. The service level on our tour is the highest possible in the region: transportation of luggage and personal belongings by mule, chef services. Everything from airport pickup to airport dropoff is included.

We will climb to the top of Mount Ararat, elevation 5137 m.

We will sample Turkish dishes: kebab, Abdigor meatballs, Imam Bayildi stuffed eggplants, Turkish sweets, and tea

We will visit Ishak Pasha Palace - a grand Ottoman-period palace that is second only to the Istanbul Palace in size

We will ascend the slopes of the Ararat mountains to explore the enormous ship-shaped object said to be Noah's Ark

We will see a "different" Turkey - its easternmost part on the border with Iran and Armenia

Description by Day

Minimize

Day 1

Meeting day.

We meet you at the Iğdır city airport (IGD) at the appointed time. The transfer to Doğubayazıt takes about an hour. Hotel check-in, checking gear. Resting after the flight. Dinner together at a Turkish restaurant. You can also fly into Van airport (VAN), but it is farther away (the transfer takes 2.5 hours) and requires additional payment for the transfer (see the Additional Services section). Special of the day: authentic Turkish kebab, with a large selection available.

Day 2

Hike to Camp 1.

Transfer to Cevirme village at an elevation of 2200 m, where our route begins. We will load our backpacks and food onto horses and walk unburdened. Today we will ascend 1000 m. The hike will take us 4-5 hours. We will set up our tents at the campsite. The chef will prepare dinner.

Day 3

Acclimatization.

Acclimatizational ascent to an elevation of 4200 m and return to Camp 1. We will bring along small backpacks with lunchboxes and thermoses. The whole hike up and back will take about 6 hours. Today we will reach an elevation of 4000 m for the first time. However, because of the temperate climate and good trail, we should be feel greating! Return to Camp 1. Dinner.

Day 4

Hike to Camp 2.

Today, we will gather up our things and move to Camp 2 at an elevation of 4200 m. All the items will be delivered by horse. We will set up tents at Camp 2. Early bedtime to rest up for our climb.

Day 5

Climbing Mount Ararat.

We will wake up at 1 a.m. We will have breakfast and get ready for our climb. The hike to the top takes 5-7 hours. After the climb, we will descend to Camp 2, have lunch, and rest. After that, we will continue down to Camp 1.

Day 6

Descent. Turkish bath.

Descent to the spot where our trek began, and transfer to Doğubayazıt. Checking into our hotel. After lunch, we will head to the Turkish bath (if desired). Dinner at a Turkish restaurant. Special of the day: "Imam Bayildi" stuffed eggplants - literally, "the imam fainted." According to legend, the Turkish imam fainted from the aroma when his wife presented the dish to him. Another version of the story holds that he fainted after finding out the cost of the ingredients for this dish.

Day 7

Ishak Pasha Palace and Noah's Ark.

We will visit the enormous Ishak Pasha Palace built along the Silk Road not far from the Iranian border. Afterwards, we will head to the mountains to investigate the unusual formation shaped like a huge ship. Arguments about its origins are ongoing. They say these are the remains of Noah's Ark. Today can also be used as a backup in case of bad weather on Ararat. In the evening, we will have dinner at a Turkish restaurant. Special of the day: Abdigor meatballs, which are only prepared here.

Day 8

End of the program.

Breakfast at the hotel. This completes our program. Private airport transfers at the appointed time.
